「駁二藝術特區」原本是高雄港二號接駁碼頭旁的廢棄舊倉庫，駁二指的就是第二號接駁碼頭，因緣際會下成為施放國慶煙火的場地，進而發現這塊可以善加利用的藝術空間。
「駁二藝術特區」主要的結構有：適用於大型展演的「駁二P2倉庫」，能夠作為小型作品展、工作坊、研習教室等的C5「台糖倉庫」，用來表演用的「月光劇場」，最後還有作為社區市民休憩場所、藝術市集及表演場所的「藝術廣場」，較特別的是「月光劇場」成為藝術特區前曾遭大火，屋頂全數燒毀，但卻因此增添了些許浪漫情境。

在駁二倉庫後方還可以發現多年前知名的海上皇宮，現已荒廢在此處，以及單車步道旁林立的公仔，「駁二藝術特區」不僅為舊倉庫開創新生命，也讓民眾更能親近藝術，走在這裡您可以感受城市裡的優閒藝術之美。

駁二Art District used to be a deserted factory warehouse adjacent to Kaohsiung harbor#2.  Due to some unforeseen circumstances, it became a popular gathering spot for firework on Double 10 national holiday.  Over times, it was effectively utilized by government and gradually became the art center that it is famously known for as of today.

Art District is subdivided into several areas.  There are areas for large art exhibition and small art exhibition.  Other areas are known for seminar classes, performing art centers and art market.

Right behind Art District sat the seaside palace which had been deserted for a long time and many human-form, life-sized sculptures.  駁二Art District is the cultural center where you can fully immerse yourself in the leisure lifestyle of city life and beauty of contemporary art.
